About

davatarMy name is (obviously) Dave. I grew up in Kingsport, Tenn. I went to Dobyns-Bennett High School. I graduated and went directly to university; something I highly recommend against.

I left Middle Tennessee State University and spent a while in Savannah, Georgia where I worked at (in no particular order) Vinnie Van Go-Go’s, RPM Records (oob), Joe Beans Coffeeshouse (oob), Endora’s Emporium, a thrift clothing/used record shop (oob) and, of course, the sadly defunct Velvet Elvis Music Lounge where I was The soundguy for several brilliant months. After I’d had my fill of full-time Savannah livin’, I came to North Carolina to get back into school to study the fields I’m truly interested in, history and political science.

I’m at the University of North Carolina @ Greensboro where I’m nearly done (finally) with a degree. After I finish that I plan on studying for a masters in conflict resolution.

In 2004 I spent almost four months in the Palestinian West Bank working with communities and grassroots organizations helping build and support nonviolent resistance to the ongoing illegal Israeli occupation. It was one the most profound experiences of my life.

So that’s enough for now. Send me email.
